Solar Energy Solutions for Rising Energy Prices
By Solar energy | August 29, 2008
My family is on a quest to reduce our home energy bill by using simple home solar energy solutions.
The price of oil continues to rise and with it, gasoline prices, food costs, and our home energy bills. The best sources tell us oil prices will not come down any time soon. Something has to change. What can the average person do?
Renewable energy surfaces as the hot topic in our national discourse. There are several forms of renewable energy. Depending on where you live, you may find one renewable energy source more doable than another.
For my husband and me, simple home solar energy solutions seem the best place to begin.
While we can’t plunk down that huge chunk of change to go completely solar all at once, we are looking for ways those of us with average incomes can add simple solar solutions to our lifestyles. How do we make this happen?
For our budget, the solution seems affordable only if we do the labor ourselves. Fortunately, both my husband and I love challenges and adventures. Reducing our energy bill will present plenty of both.
By some accounts our learning curve is huge. We are neither scientists nor engineers. The more we learn the more questions arise. What this means is loads of research, learning, practice, and patience. Sometimes it feels like slogging through deep mud. But we are determined.
There is a growing body of solar power information available from books, magazines, internet sites and internet groups. Luckily, solar energy enthusiast DIY types are happy to share their knowledge.
This blog will document our solar energy projects, lessons learned, and on-going solar conversation.
We invite you to join the conversation and share your questions, comments, and solar enthusiasm with us by leaving a comment.
