Affordable Home Solar Energy Begins with Energy Conservation

We want to go solar. With erratic energy prices, dwindling fossil fuel supplies, and environmental and human concerns, renewable energy makes logical sense.

Still financially more expensive than fossil fuel, solar is becoming more affordable. Recent government tax incentives should stimulate the market for all renewable energy resources.

While we know in our hearts solar energy is a good idea, practically speaking, it must make economic sense for the average American to embrace it. So how do we make it affordable?

First, we reduce our home energy consumption as much as possible.

To learn how to conserve energy at home, have a professional home energy audit. Call your local energy provider and ask if they will do home energy audits for their customers.

Yesterday our energy provider representative came to our home. He spent almost two hours checking our home, water heater, air conditioning, windows, and appliances. We talked about simple ways to conserve energy as well as discussed solar options.

Kudos to Pedernales Electric for their generous and friendly help!
